Health and Education Resources for Your Family

Tuesdays from 3:00-5:00pm

(Will resume in fall 2020)

We understand that every student is unique and that means he or she needs and wants different kinds of support when it comes to learning. Whether your student needs a little extra homework help, reading support, practice with writing or math, or just a fun and safe place to hang out on Tuesdays after school, they are welcome here! Every Tuesday that Fort Wayne Community Schools are in session, we will be open from 3:00-5:00pm for students in grades 2-8 to do homework, ask questions of our tutors, look up information for school projects, read, play games, and enjoy a snack. We also have a short Christ-centered devotion at the end of every homework club meeting. We have plenty of space to do this safely, while practicing physical distancing and a health precaution.

Contact us to sign up your student or with questions about the volunteer application process!

Whether you have never cooked for yourself before, or cook all the time and want to work more fruits and veggies into the dishes you love, this fun, free class has something for you! From cashew chicken to strawberry-pecan salads, chicken tortilla soup to beef and broccoli stir-fry, the HEAL cooking guide that is yours to keep, is packed with delicious and creative ideas for eating healthily without sacrificing flavor!

We are excited to be able to offer "Our HEALing Kitchen" cooking classes for adults of all ages and abilities again.  Because of COVID-19 health precautions, our upcoming schedule for HEAL (Health Eating Active Living) classes has been postponed for the time being. We are thankful for the materials and support from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation and Parkview Health. Funds supporting our health education programs are also generously supported by The Lutheran Foundation and the We Raise Foundation.

Special class incentives and prizes for attendance will be available to participants.

We are a proud host location for A Hope Center's medical mobile on a weekly basis, and thank them for offering these resources FREE OF CHARGE right here at Shepherd's Hand. The medical mobile's caring staff provide a judgement-free and professional atmosphere where any woman is welcome to receive care.

Look for the big purple bus in our parking lot across Anthony Blvd. (right across the street from our center at 1231 S. Anthony), and let us know if you have any questions before then. Spread the word that A Hope Center is bringing their services to our community!

You may also find the same services at their two Fort Wayne locations at this link. No matter your health needs, concerns, or situation, there is hope and support! Let us walk with you.
